Rogue's kittens arrived earlier than expected & sadly due to them being premature we lost two babies.
The other two babies were two boys born a good weight & one showing signs of being a little premature began showing signs that concerned us. We kangaroo cuddled, hand fed and monitored this little boy very closely with little change in his prognosis so we were expecting the very worst.
However, our hard work and persistence paid off as our little "Wolfie" began to wolf down his feeds and search for mum's milk bar for the first time successfully. At a week old he was finally above his birth weight & is growing by the day. His big brother "Sunny" did need a small helping hand but has been thriving with very little assistance.
Mum Rogue was understandably very upset but seems to have settled down to care for her two boys. We are also devastated that we lost two babies but relieved we saved little Wolfie.
Currently we do not know the colours of these babies and we think we have found homes for both so thank you to everyone who has been in touch.
We do not have set plans yet for more kittens but are hoping to take Rogue's daughter Niji to see a boyfriend when she's a bit more mature.

We're expecting!
As we had suspected, Rogue is expecting a litter of kittens at the end of May. We are expecting tabby kittens though there is the possibility of non-tabby with colours in seal or chocolate though lilac or blue are possible but unlikely.
We do currently have a waiting list but should you be interested please let me know. Kittens are not reserved until I have met would-be owners and would-be owners have met said kitten to ensure compatibility & the best homes for my babies & a non-refundable deposit has been placed.
To contact me, please email alighieribirmans@gmail.com with details of family life and any questions you may have - please note that we are updating our Facebook page with photos and news too.
Kittens are only available to permanent, loving indoor homes. No kitten will be available for breeding purposes.

An update to our plans for 2015
We've been waiting patiently for Rogue to show an interest in visiting her boyfriend until now. She is currently on her honeymoon with Toby so we are hoping to find out in a few weeks if we will hear the pitter patter this summer of kitten feet.
If you wish to contact us, please email alighieribirmans@gmail.com with more about family life - please note that kittens are likely to be tabby & more likely to be chocolate or seal in colour. Kittens are only reserved after I have met new owners in person and accepted a deposit. All homes must be indoor homes. We strictly do not sell for breeding.

Kittens Plans 2015
We've been asked a lot so thought we should share our plans for this year.
Rogue is due to go to her boyfriend in the coming weeks and, if successful, would be due in April 2015 for her last litter & would be ready to leave mid-summer. We are keeping our minds open with Niji as she is still a kitten and still maturing so we have no plans for a second litter this year.
If you are interested in an Alighieri kitten, please email alighieribirmans@gmail.com with details about family life.
Please remember that kittens are not reserved until I have met potential mums and dads when they visit kittens and have provided a non-refundable deposit. I am looking for the best homes for my babies which includes an indoor home environment unless a safe cat-proof garden can be provided.
We also regularly update our Facebook page here with photos, news and other owners share their photos occasionally too! Please "like" this page to receive updates.

Judge report for Niji from Cheshire Area Show 2014
Please click on the link below to view Niji's report from Mrs Perkins at the Cheshire Area Cat Club Show 2014.
We are very pleased with this report. First shows with a cat can be daunting even if you are leaving with placings in classes as you want to know how they coped with their day and also if they were given the benefit of the doubt. We are very happy to read what we expected that Niji was unphased by her day out and was given a glowing report in general by Mrs Perkins.
We are no longer able to copy the content on here but are able to provide a link to judge reports on the GCCF website - please click here to view the report.

An update from one of this year's litter - Cadbury
Cadbury's mummy has sent us some beautiful photos of her precious baby, a Chocolate Point boy. He is now 5 months old and I think he is fast becoming a gorgeous young man. Thank you Debb for sharing these stunning shots with us of your handsome little chappy!

Cheshire Area Show 2014
Alighieri Cancellara's very first show, just as a trial, today was a nice surprise. Niji won 1st & best of breed in her Tabby or Tortie-Tabby Point Birman Kitten breed class. She also even more surprisingly won 2nd in a side class.
We're thrilled with her success, particularly as the first Alighieri cat we have shown, & may try her again when she's older depending on her development.

Meet Niji!

Originally we planned to call her Lara (due to her pedigree name) but felt that Niji was more apt as a Japanese name meaning "rainbow" as this has great significance to our family this year.
We hope that Niji has a future at shows or even with kittens but that is yet to be determined. She is a gentle sweet little girl & should fit right in here.
Hopefully you will see some positive show news about little Niji in the future on here but if not she will be enjoying cuddles & kisses with us as a beloved pet regardless.

We have kittens looking for homes!
We have decided that we are not going to keep the little girl of the litter so she is now available to a pet home as is one of her brothers.
We have the 2 tabby kittens available (picture is the boy). One seal tabby boy (same colour as both my adults) & one chocolate tabby girl.
They will be ready to leave us around 4th October 2014. They will leave us fully vaccinated, wormed, de-fleaed (preventative), GCCF registered (non-active) with a 4 generation signed full pedigree & some food samples.
We are looking for indoor homes for these darlings. They are both lovely characters. The seal tabby is an explorer but loves to sit on laps when he isn't busy playing. The chocolate tabby is a very typical kitten & loves to play with everything. Utterly adorable babies. They can be viewed now & reserved with a non-refundable deposit. All holidays honoured. Please contact us by email alighieribirmans@gmail.com or leave a message on 0161 962 2041 and we will reply as soon as possible.
